However Barcelona have made a strong play for Garcia, and are willing to pay his \u20ac25m release clause.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football-espana.net\/2025\/05\/31\/barcelona-joan-garcia-agreement-close\">Barcelona reportedly made advances with Garcia and his agents<\/a>, as they push for the player\u2019s green light. Much of the conversation surrounding a potential move to Barcelona has been centred on whether he would have to compete with Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the number one spot, and the German goalkeeper has set out his stall over the weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football-espana.net\/2025\/06\/01\/barcelona-ter-stegen-addresses-exit-rumours\">declaring that he will be at the club next season, and has no plans to leave<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Barcelona confident of Garcia green light<\/h2>\n<p>For their part, despite the strong interest from Manchester City and Newcastle United, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundodeportivo.com\/futbol\/fc-barcelona\/20250602\/1002476166\/semana-clave-despejar-futuro-joan-garcia-vez-mas-cerca-barca.html\">MD<\/a> say Barcelona remain confident that Garcia will end up accepting their offer this week. Matteo Moretto explains that a decision has yet to be taken, but news is expected this week.
